What We Do

PENNY is a group of public, independent, and charter schools and educators who are committed to the advancement of progressive education.  The organization will focus on two major areas:

  1. professional development, with possible opportunities for school visits, workshops, speakers, mentoring, research, and curriculum development; and
  2. policy and advocacy, with a voice of support for progressive education in local education policy discussions, advocating for access, equity, and social justice.

This work is supported by quarterly meetings that bring the PENNY community together for conversation and dialog and often features moderated panels, guest speakers and special performances or film screenings. The spring quarterly meeting is a full-day conference. These meetings are also supported by a variety of special projects that take place throughout the year.
