MEMBERSHIP

Dear PENNY Supporter,

Together, we are continuing to fulfill our mission to connect public, independent, charter, and teacher education schools and individuals in the NYC area in order to advance progressive pedagogy and promote equity, access, and social justice. In that vein, we are excited to present to you details on becoming a member of PENNY for the 2020-2021 school year:

Membership Includes:

1. Professional Learning Opportunities

  • School Visits Project

    • Members are invited to participate in fall and spring school visits

    • Member schools can also post additional days when they welcome visitors on the PENNY school visitation calendar

  • Quarterly Gatherings

    • Member schools are invited to quarterly meetings to discuss issues pertinent to progressive education, lead workshops, and continue the work of PENNY

    • Member schools will be asked to take turns hosting PENNY meetings in their buildings

  • Conferences

    • PENNY will also host one or two larger events that could be open to anyone, similar to the EdCamp we hosted last spring or a one-day conference

  • Working Groups

    • Members are invited to collaborate with the board to join in committee work or start working groups with a particular focus, i.e., a leadership affinity group

2. Online Community of Local Progressive Educators

  • The PENNY email listserv

  • Social Media: Instagram (@pennycollaborative), Twitter (@pennycollab), and Facebook

  • We are open to other ideas only for members, such as posting open positions on the PENNY website, starting a PENNY blog for educators to write about curriculum and pedagogy, etc.

Membership:

Your membership contribution underwrites program and administration costs. With your ongoing financial support, we can continue to offer a wide range of programs and events.

  • School Membership Contribution: $500 (includes all employees of the school)
  • Individual Progressive Leader Membership Fee: $100
  • Individual Membership Contribution: $25
