SCHOOL DESCRIPTION:The Muscota New School is a small, K-5 school located in the Inwood section of Manhattan. We believe children learn best from and with one another, so a positive and caring community serves as the background for a rich academic program based on the core principles of progressive pedagogy. Here at Muscota we foster independent and critical thinking, social action and an ever-expanding curiosity about the world and its people through interdisciplinary units of study, investigations of real-world problems, and the arts. We believe education is a joint venture among students, parents and teachers. We emphasize the development of agency, equity of voice and the creative power of collaboration.
